Clip Lock Sheeting

Concealed-fix clip lock roof sheeting for factories, warehouses and other large roofs, on new structures and over existing roofs.

Capabilities

  • Clip lock roof sheeting installation
  • Long-run sheets for large industrial roofs
  • Roof insulation laid beneath the sheeting
  • Re-roofing over existing sheeting on new sub-framing
  • Translucent skylight sheets in the same profile
  • Ridge, flashing and ventilator detailing

Typical deliverables

  • Sub-framing and clips fixed and aligned
  • Insulation and sheeting installed across the full roof run
  • A completed, weather-tight roof handed over

How a clip lock roof goes on, step by step

Clip lock sheets are held down by hidden clips instead of screws through the sheet. These photos from our sites follow one roof from frame to finish.

  1. Galvanised sub-framing fixed in rows across an existing corrugated roof

Purlins and sub-framing go in first

On a new building the sheets sit on the steel purlins. When we re-roof an old building, galvanised sub-framing is fixed over the existing sheets, so the factory below can keep working. Everything is lined up and levelled, because the finished roof will follow it exactly.

  2. Strip of yellow insulation running between two rows of clip lock sheets

    Insulation is rolled out

A glass-wool blanket is laid over the purlins, on safety mesh, one sheet-width ahead of the roofing crew. It keeps heat and rain noise out of the building, and stays dry because it is covered the same day.

  3. Steel roofing clips laid out along a purlin next to newly laid sheets

Concealed clips are screwed to every purlin

Small steel clips are fixed to each purlin on the line of every sheet rib. These clips are the only fixings in the roof: no screw goes through the sheet itself.

  4. Long run of clip lock roof sheeting with installers at the far end

Long sheets snap onto the clips

Each sheet runs in one length from the eaves to the ridge, so there are no end laps to leak. It is placed over the clips and pressed down until its ribs click into place. The next sheet overlaps the last rib and locks onto the same clips, which holds both sheets together.

  5. Line of translucent skylight sheets set into a clip lock roof

Skylights lock in the same way

Where the building needs daylight, translucent sheets in the same profile replace a metal sheet and lock onto the same clips. Light comes in without a single extra hole in the roof.

  6. Roofer in a helmet and full-body harness fixing a ridge flashing, tied to a lifeline

Ridge, flashings and openings are sealed

Ridge cappings, edge flashings and ventilator openings are fitted and sealed last. Every roofer works in a full-body harness clipped to a lifeline.

  7. Finished clip lock roof stretching to the horizon under a blue sky

    A smooth, weather-tight roof

The result is a continuous metal roof with no exposed screws. Because the sheets are held by clips rather than bolted through, they can expand and contract with the heat without tearing fixing holes, which is what makes clip lock roofs last.
